Commander Lesa Gale AFP, Disruption and Deterrence Task Group

Commander Gale was appointed to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in 1987 and over her 29 year career with the AFP, has undertaken a range of managerial, capability and capacity building functions across a variety of operational policing fields to combat Serious and Organised Crimes, Cyber Crimes, Child Exploitation, People Smuggling and Human Trafficking.

Currently Manager Victim Based Crime, Commander Gale manages and delivers AFP outcomes for victim-focused Commonwealth crime types encompassing three disciplines: Child Protection, Counter Exploitation and Outreach and Prevention.

Commander Gale is also responsible for brokering AFP International Engagement priorities on a multilateral basis in respect of these disciplines particularly between Australia-South East Asia and Australia-Europe.

Within this context Commander Gale is currently the AFP senior representative to; the Santa Marta Group, the Virtual Global Task Force and is Chair of the South East Asia Joint Management Group on People Smuggling and Trafficking.

Prior to this appointment, in 2015, Commander Gale completed a high level secondment as the Law Enforcement Liaison Officer to Australia’s Federal Minister for Justice, the honourable Michael Keenan.

Commander Gale is currently undertaking a Masters of Leadership and Management.
